Shin Yeh (欣葉) @ Liang Court

Our first visit to Shin Yeh, a Taiwanese restaurant under the Tung Lok Group. I had purchased 2 vouchers from Groupon at $15 each for a value of $30.  I made a reservation for two at 8pm.  We reached there early, at around 7.20pm and decided to try our luck, hoping there was a table for us.
Setting of the table
Pickled zucchini
We ordered a pot of Eight Treasure Tea ($12).  The staff were quite attentive and they would refill our cup with tea regularly.
Pan-fried Pig’s Liver with Coriander 煎猪肝
Large portion of Liver!  This was really delicious!  Must try!
 Sweet Potato Porridge ($1.50)
Poached Savour Duck in Boullion
Pan-fried Turnip Cake 正宗菜脯蛋
Not too sure how many eggs were used but it was fluffy with the saltish crunchy dried turnips, perfect with a bowl of plain porridge.  Again, the portion was quite big for two person.
 Complimentary Mochi
Total bill was around $80+.  With the Groupon coupon, we topped up another $20+.  So on average, it was $25+ per person.

Something to note:  The restaurant is located directly above a pub.  At around 9pm, you will start feeling the slight "tremor" of the ground which might spoil your dining experience there.  So try to be there early!

SUANTHAI - Home of Thai Cuisine @ Liang Court

Dad got promoted and he gave us a treat :) We didn't go for their value-for-money buffet. Instead, we ordered ala-carte and most of the food was really quite tasty especially the phad thai and the steamed fish.

Salad
Pineapple Fried Rice
Phad Thai
One of the best Phad Thai I had ever had :)
Olive Rice
Think I don't really like olive rice, just my personal taste.  I will just stick to pineapple rice in future.
Green Curry
This was the last main course to be served.
The steamed fish was worth the 20 minutes wait.  The soup base was like tom-yam flavour.  Shiok!
Red Ruby
There were numerous red rubies inside!!
Mango Sticky Rice, served hot
Durian dessert
Like the Mango Sticky Rice, this was also served hot.  This one was really sweet.
Dad and my brother
After dinner, we went to Meidi-ya.  Look at the mini can of Sapporo beer.  So cute!

Tampopo Day Out @ Liang Court

Met up with the gals for lunch at Liang Court to catch up with one another and also to share SL's joy as she is happily 4 mths pregnant already.  :)  We were a bit kiasu and arranged to meet at 11.45am in order to avoid the long queue.  However, none of us except SL made it on time and we smsed one another that we would be late.  Haha... I was the last one to arrive and when I reached, the rest told me that they had placed their order.  They all ordered the same type of ramen, which was the Black Pig Shabu Ramen which the restaurant was famous for.  It was supposed to be spicy but my friends all requested that the chilli flakes to be served separately.  According to them, the soup seemed to be a bit bland and they all added lots of chilli flakes into the soup in the end.
I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen as I like fried pork cutlets.  However, I think this was a big let-down.  I would not comment much on the ramen as I think it was quite ordinary, nothing to wow about.  When I took the first bite of the pork cutlet, I spat it out as it was a whole piece of fat!  Eeeeek!  The other pieces were also very "fat" and hard.  So disappointing.  The soup was pretty spicy and I guessed all other tastes were already overpowered by the spiciness.  This bowl of ramen had failed to impress me and I am really not a fussy eater, really. :(
Clam soup
Service was ok although my bowl of ramen came first although I was the last to order.  My friends waited for quite a while for their ramen to arrive and they thought their orders were forgotten.  As most of the staff were PRCs, my friends joked that we were like eating in a Chinese restaurant, no "Japanese feel".  When eating the Japanese ramen, we all had the feeling that we were like eating Chinese Dan Dan noodle or some sort.  No offence.

After lunch at Tampopo, we went to Meidi-ya to do a bit of shopping.  I bought a box of miso paste.  Craving for desserts as usual, we settled at Tampopo Deli.  We almost missed this place as it was located at a very secluded corner at the basement of Liang Court, opposite Meidi-ya.  We looked at the nice collection of cakes, tarts and puddings that they displayed.  We were like wanted to try everything out!  So, as usual, we ordered 5 different items to share amongst the 5 of us.  We were really very impressed with their cakes, very fluffy and moist.  Texture of the chiffon cakes was soft.  Much better than the ones we had at Royal Copenhagen.
Pudding Tart
Mont Blanc
Matcha Chiffon Cake
Banana Chiffon Cake

I also bought a cheese chiffon cake for hubby who was at home.  Would be back soon!

Saizeriya @ Liang Court

Today, I joined hubby's department for their "Family Day". We reached Liang Court at around 8.30am for MacDonald's Big breakfast after passing through $7.50 worth of ERP! :( After a very long breakfast, they had some gift exchange and then, we went for the Singapore river cruise at around 10.30am. A pity that today's weather was not good, it was raining and we could just sit inside the boat, unable to take good photos of the landscape while doing the boring cruise.

Hubby and I went to Audio House and a mattress boutique after the activity. For lunch, we decided to re-visit Saizeriya - a Japanese Italian family restaurant.  They served mainly pastas/ pizzas/ hamburgers and steaks.
Escargots (Must Try!)
I think these escargots were rather quite addictive, especially with the garlic.  Around $5 for 6 escargots, quite worth it :)
Mushroom Soup
Hamburger with Mushroom (My order) - $7.89
Seafood Gratin ~ $5
We also ordered a bottle of 500ml of red wine (~ $14)
In short, the food in this "budget restaurant" is quite value-for-money.  But if you are looking for authentic Jap/ Italian food, you may be disappointed.
