Sushi Tei @ Tampines 1

Haha... Today went to Tampines 1 again with SF and AC because it is the most convenient place for us. At first, SF suggested going to the airport for dinner but due to swine flu, we had second thought. =P
Last night, after dinner we didn't manage to do any shopping. Today, we had our dinner earlier so we got time to go shopping after that.
We settled at Sushi Tei for dinner tonight instead of Manpuku again. Some of the food that we ordered:
Golden Roll - Combination of mango, king prawn in a sushi roll.
The prawn head was deep fried to crisp so it can be eaten.
Hotate

A bit of cooking on our own.

This was quite a satisfying dinner. Wanted to hop to some dessert place after that and continued our chit-chatting and gossipping but ended up shopping.

Yoshimi @ Manpuku Tampines 1

Tomorrow is the start of our students' examination. Before our markings start to kick in, colleagues - SF, SS, JD, LL and I decided to go to Tampines 1 to makan and shop. I introduced them to Manpuku :) We all ordered different stuff.
I ordered curry rice with pork cutlet to satisfy my carbo intake. Very hungry as I think I skipped my lunch.

Curry rice with Pork Cutlet

The curry was poured to the side of the plate and not over the top. Not spicy, typical Japanese Curry taste. They have soup curry also. Maybe should try that instead.

Taman Tebrau, Johor Bahru

Hubby decided to drive to JB today. We first had lunch at a Bak Kut Teh place and then proceed to Tesco and Jusco for shopping.

For dinner, as usual we went to Taman Tebrau for the cereal crayfish. A favourite makan place for many Singaporeans as well. We always frequent the same stall - Stall 59. Ordered 3 crayfish.

Cereal Crayfish

Hubby also ordered grilled fish without sambal to try out.

Think next time, we will stick to sambal fish. Without the sambal, the fish seems quite tasteless.

Yamazaki Boulangerie Chaude @ Tampines 1

After my dinner at Manpuku, I did a bit of shopping at Tampines 1 before heading back home. As I went down the escalator to the basement, I saw a long queue at this bakery shop. Out of curiosity, I went in to have a look and ended up buying the following:

Mini Mochi sesame bun - I saw these weird looking stuffs almost on everybody's trays so I took 3 as well. After trying, I found them a bit too salty but good for snacks though.

All time favourite amongst many - Ah Pan (Red bean paste flat bun)

I also bought this as somehow it looked like a healthy snack :)

Mr Bean

Another snack on the same day :)

I like these pineapple/ green tea biscuits as they are not greasy and serve as a good snack. I also prefer Mr Bean's soy milk to Jollibean.

Aoba Hokkaido Ramen @ Manpuku Tampines 1 [Closed]

So happy that Manpuku opened its door at Tampines 1 (Quite near to my place in the East side =P ) 10 Japanese stalls all under one roof, you'll be spoilt for choices for Japanese food! Today, I managed to finish work early so decided to make a trip down to Tampines 1 for dinner. I had not gotten the chance to go there since its opening.
Today, I tried the Shio Cha-shu ramen ($10.80) from Aoba Hokkaido. Here, you will need to pay 7% GST but there is no service charge. Once you are at the reception, the staff will give you a "reserved" tag, serviette and a manpuku card. You will use the card to pay for your orders later on.

The ramen was curly and springy. Broth was the salty type which I quite like. The thinly-cut round slices of pork were good too!
Cannot wait to visit this place again to try the other stalls. :)

Jing Long Seafood Restaurant @ Bedok North

Uncle came back from Australia and we had a family dinner with him tonight. We went to a Zi Char place in Bedok near my Grandpa's place. This place is always very crowded and on special occassions like Mothers' Day, you will need to make reservation in advance.

Crispy Tofu with fruits/ pork floss & Roast Duck Rolls

Sweet and Sour Fish Slice

Wasabi Prawns

Not too sure whether it is due to my flu, I couldn't really taste the Wasabi. It tasted more like just normal Mayonaise prawns.

We also ordered other dishes like baked sweet and sour pork ribs, hotplate tofu, roasted chicken, mixed vegetables. Overall, the food here was good and value for money. If you don't mind the crowd and noise level, you can give this zi char place a try :)

Chocz

While waiting for Francis to pay for the bread at Four Leaves. I was attracted to the muffins at Chocz opposite to the bakery. Usual price for each muffin at $4. There was a promotion 3 muffins/ brownies for $5. We decided to buy 2 muffins and 1 brownie back for supper. :)
Containing our little loot of....

Banana Muffin
I had the whole banana muffin to myself =P

Fish Mart Sakuraya @ Parkway Parade

Today, we went to Fish Mart Sakuraya at Parkway Parade. The place was quite small with some dining tables next to the grocery shelves. It is actually a dining area within a mini mart. Our first experience with Sakuraya was at Village Centre.

Francis ordered 4 different types of sashimi today :) The sashimi here never failed us as they are always very fresh. We also ordered some sushi.

This meal cost around $60+. Guess what, we were still not full after dinner. So we bought some muffins, bread and brownie back for supper =P
