Sushi Delivery (sushidelivery.sg)

During this Covid-19 period (from Circuit Breaker till even now), hubby and I have all our dinners at home.  I had learnt cooking simple dishes and even attempted Korean cusine.  I have yet to try making sushi and I probably won't be doing any deep-frying in my kitchen.  However, Japanese cuisine such as sushi, sashimi are our favourite food as well so we have to find online delivery for Japanese food if we were to crave for them.

On one of our busy weekdays evening, I was pleased to receive a special delivery from SushiDelivery.sg, in collaboration with "Best In Singapore".  They sent over a good variety of dishes for us to sample, from salad, sushi, side dishes to bento box.  Each dish was nicely packaged so I don't see the need for me to transfer them to proper plates for plating/ photography purposes.

We received two bags of food!
One bag consisting of 4 different types of "Cold" food.
The other bag consisting of the "Hot" food.

Let's start with the "Cold" food. The first dish that I tried is the Kani Salad (Promo Price: $6.90). A fresh mix of crabsticks, cherry tomatoes, capsicums and lettuce dressed in sesame sauce with roe topping. As you can see, the amount of roe is overly generous but we are not complaining!

California Maki ($10.90)
This is the popular type of sushi that will be welcomed by both young and old. Crabsticks, crunchy Japanese cucumber and sweet tamago wrapped in nori and sushi rice, and again topped with a generous amout of roe.

 Chuka Kurage ($4)
Kurage (jellyfish) served with a white radish garnish. The jellyfish was rather salty on its own. In my opinion, it will be better to have this together with rice.

 Kappa Maki ($3.90)
Very basic sushi with cucumber which our vegetarian friends can take.

Our main course - Chicken Kaarage Bento (Promo Price: $10.90)
Eight pieces of deep-fried chicken karaage served with a side salad, Japanese pickles and sushi rice topped with furikake, which helped to balance the taste of the bento.

 Shrimp Crouton - 5 pieces ($4.90)
This is similar to fried sotong ball but with the addition of croutons.  I heated them up in the oven the next day to make them more crispy.

Yam Net Sponge Rolls - 5 pieces ($5.90)
This is my favourite amongst all the fried items.  While eating the roll, I kept thinking I was eating sweet potato and I checked to confirm from the website that this is actually yam.  The filling was really generous.  The yam was sweet so this dish can be served as a dessert after meal too!

 Taka Yaki - 5 pieces ($4.90)
A chunk of octupus can be found in each takoyaki, creating an interesting texture.  It is nice to chew in the inside and yet soft on the outside.  Eat it together with the generous amount of bonito flakes and a dollop of mayonaise, you will be satisfied.

If you are interested in ordering from Sushi Delivery, do check out at their website at: https://sushidelivery.sg  They don't have a physical restaurant and only focus on delivery.

Thanks "Best In Singapore" for the collaboration.

RamenPlay @ BreadTalk IHQ

Dinner with my parents at BreadTalk IHQ on a Sunday evening.  At BreadTalk IHQ, you can BreadTalk® Group brands like Din Tai Fung, Toastbox, Breadtalk, Food Republic and RamenPlay under the same roof.

We ordered two sides and I would recommend RamenPlay Bamboo Chicken.  The grilled chicken meat was tender and juicy.

I had their featured dish of the month - Butariki Ishinabe  (Sizzling Stone Pot Rice with Pork).  Premium Niigata Koshihikari rice from Japan is used in this dish.  It is accompanied by pan-fried and barbecued pork, spring onions, seaweed and finally topped with a raw egg for an extra boost of flavour.  Very satisfying dish that I don't mind ordering again the next time.
Hubby ordered ramen.
My parents ordered Shabu Shabu.  Piping hot soup accompanied with an assortment of fresh vegetables and thinly sliced meat.  As my dad doesn't take beef, they ordered pork slices.  Each set comes with rice/udon, raw egg, pickles and sesame sauce.

Buta God, Ramen Champion @ Changi Airport Terminal 3

I am rather lucky with instagram contest recently.  Just before the Chinese New Year, hubby and I went to our favourite nearest ramen joint - Ramen Champion at Changi Airport Terminal 3.  As usual, we would take a photo of our delicious-looking bowl of ramen and post it on instagram.  I hashtag my photo of the ramen I ordered from Tonkatsu Ikkyu with #ramenchampioncny as there is a contest from Ramen Champion.  Winners of the contest would receive CNY ang pows!  I was happy to be one of the three winners for this contest!  The ang pows were mailed to me and the amount of the vouchers also came as a surprise for me (4 x $20 Ramen Champion vouchers).
Both of us ordered the God Ramen from Buta God!  To maximize the 2 x $20 vouchers, we ordered another side dish.
More and more restaurants using this technology and I can even find this in my neighbourhood foodcourt in one of the western food stalls.
 Our orders...
The side dish was very disappointing.  The dish looked completely different from the display photo.  The tamago was so thinly sliced and this cost $6.80.  Super not worth the money in my opinion.
Our God Ramen!  Haha... It was a rather generous bowl of ramen with pork belly slices and a poached egg.  Broth was thick and rich.  This ramen didn't disappoint.
For this meal, we used 2 vouchers and topped up only $1.50.  We still have 2 more vouchers and we will visit Ramen Champion again next month!

Thank you @ramenchampion_sg for the CNY ang pows!  See you soon! :):):)

Chabuton - The KUROBUTA @ Tampines One

This was my second visit to Chabuton with hubby.  I didn't try "The Kurobuta" during my previous visit and was happy to win a voucher for a free bowl of "The Kurobuta" from @VIVIENNEELUV's Instagram giveaway!  :) :)  :)
This time, the staff didn't ask us whether we wanted to customized our ramen eg. less oily, less salty and soft or hard ramen.  Nevertheless, we felt that the ramen was better than our last visit.  The texture of the ramen from our last visit was rather hard.  The Kurobuta was a very rich bowl of ramen with blend of Tonkotsu and Chicken Collegen broth.  It is only available till end of this month.

Hubby had this Chabuton Tonkotsu Char Siew Ramen so he could enjoy the extra pieces of Char Siew.

Chabuton @ Tampines One

Hubby wanted to go to the SingTel shop to get a new phone and thus, we ended up at Tampines.  We had an early dinner at Chabuton, Tampines One after we took a queue number from the SingTel shop.

Hubby ordered "The Kurobuta" which is available from now till 31 March 2015.
As I was not feeling really hungry yet, I ordered a small bowl of Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.30).

The restaurant was quite empty when we were there at around 5pm on a weekend.

I took a small slice of the meat.  It was tender and sweet, very tasty.

My small bowl of ramen came with only a slice of meat.  Haha... The broth was rich and creamy. However, the noodles were rather hard even when I had customized it to soft.  I also requested for less oily and less salty.
Since mine was just the small bowl, I finished everything up!  :)

Tonkotsu Ikkyu (Ramen Champion) @ Changi Airport Terminal 3

For the past three years, whenever hubby and I had craving for ramen, Ikkousha (Ramen Champion) at Changi Airport T3 would be our top choice.  Two weeks ago on a Friday evening, after a tiring day from work, we went back to Ramen Champion.  However, to our disappointment, Ikkousha had ceased its operation at Changi Airport!  Sob, Sob... Thus, we ordered our ramen from the new stall "Tonkatsu Ikkyu" which had taken over Ikkousha's original stall premise.

The pork bone broth, probably boiled for many hours, was very thick and creamy, just like Ikkousha's.  Presentation-wise was also very similar to that of Ikkousha, with the noodles topped with black fungus, spring onions and the thin slices of meat spreading evenly and nicely around the bowl, like petals from a flower.  The sliced meat was slightly tougher than Ikkousha's almost melt-in-the-mouth lean sliced pork.

Hubby and I both ordered the Special Tonkotsu Ramen (S$15.80).

Father's Day Dinner at Saboten @ Changi Airport Terminal 1

Hubby and I went for a 11 days trip to Hokkaido/ Tokyo during last June holidays.  Our date of departure was Sunday, 15 Jun and it coincide with Father's Day.  Dad came to fetch us to the airport and I treated the family to a dinner at Saboten before catching the flight to Haneda Airport for our trip to Hokkaido!  Yes!  More Japanese food!!!  =)

Saboten is one of my favourite tonkatsu restaurant.

Free flow of shredded cabbages, which went very well with the sesame dressing.
Loin Katsu (Large)
I ordered Salmon Katsu instead of Loin Katsu as the staff told us that the loin katsu was only available in "large".  I was afraid that I couldn't finish the "large" portion of loin katsu and thus, I decided to go for a change.
We were served a scoop of green-tea (matcha) ice-cream to end the meal.

Tamoya Udon @ Chinatown Point

I was back at Chinatown Point again the day after I had the collagen hotpot at Tsukada Nojo with my girl friends.  This time, I was back here with hubby as we wanted to book our tour package to Hokkaido.  We settled our lunch at Tamoya Udon first before we went to the travel agency.

At the shopfront, you can find a video showing the delicate udon-making process.  It was really interesting.  Do check it out if you happen to be around.

Tamoya was established in the home of udon, Sanuki (now known as Kagawa) prefecture in 1996 by Sanuki udon champion, Tamotsu Kurokawa.  Tamoya Singapore is their first overseas outlet!  Sanuki udon is hand-crafted from Tamoya's proprietary flour mixture (made from 3 different flour) and is served with "golden dashi" broth.
Ordering system is "Self-Service" style.
First, you choose the type of udon that you want.  Then your fresh bowl of udon will be served to you almost immediately.
After that, you can proceed to the tempura counter and choose your sides.
 They have rice balls too.
Once payment is done, you can helped yourselves to the soup and the condiments.
Free flow of soup and tempura sauce.  Very convenient for the patrons to refill our own soup.
There is a condiments counter and we helped ourselves to the variety of condiments that were available.

Hubby ordered his udon with beef slices. ($11.55)
Some sides to share amongst us.

I only ordered Kake Udon (Udon with broth)  as I took most of the sides.  Heehee.....The udons were thick and chewy type. ($5.15)

The prices include GST and there is no Service Charge.  :)
 Love this tempura prawn.
After lunch, we went to the travel agency - CTC to book our Hokkaido tour package.  Due to hectic working schedule, we didn't really have time to plan for this trip.  Thus, we decided to take up a tour package this time round.  We will extend a few days stay at Tokyo on our own.
We were given so many lucky draw coupons that I had yet to fill them up.
Spotted a "bunny" car as we made our way to the carpark.
