Chinatown Chinese New Year Official Light-Up - Year of the Rooster 2017

On 7 Jan 2017, the Official Light Up and Opening Ceremony marks the opening of the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2017.  Have you been to Chinatown to see the big Rooster and the street light-up yet?  If not, it is still not too late as the street light-up will continue till 25 Feb 2017!
Do you know where we could take such an awesome view of Chinatown?  Hint below...
We parked our car at the carpark here and spotted quite a number of photographers here as well.
We had our dinner at Chinatown Point first before coming back to catch the fireworks.
人山人海

The whole place was so crowded and we ended up waiting at this area, which was a WRONG choice!!!  We were totally blocked by the white cardboard from the stage and we didn't manage to catch the fireworks!  =(

These animal shaped balloons didn't fail to entertain the adults as well!  =)

The stage... We didn't watch the performance as the place was too crowded for comfort.

We have seen claw machines for plush toys.  How about this?  For ice-cream?  Furthermore, this one has guaranteed returns ie you can play till you get one!

A Leisure Afternoon Spent at Pulau Ubin

To get to Pulau Ubin, we got to take the bum-boat from Changi Jetty.

Once we reached the jetty at Pulau Ubin, we took a van to drive us to Chek Jawa.  The van dropped us at this point where we saw a number of

WILD BOARS!!!!

This was the first time that I saw wild boars at Pulau Ubin and everyone was so excited, taking out their cameras to capture shots of these "superstars".
This fruit is known as "Nipah".  The edible seeds that come from it are known as "Attap Chee".  Does that ring a bell.

I did intertidal walk at Chek Jawa 5 years ago but I think there is no more such guided walk anymore.

This Tudor-styled cottage is known as "House No. 1" - Chek Jawa Vistor Centre and was built in 1930.
There is a fireplace inside the cottage.
Spotted a pretty vending machine.  :)

More wild boars spotted as we made our way back.  I decided to slow walk from the cottage back to the jetty with my 3 other colleagues instead of taking the van.  We spent almost another hour walking back.

Yoga by the Sea 2012

I registered for "Yoga by the Sea" this year with my good friend A.  However, the very morning of the event, A called and told me that she was down with a flu infection.  As such, I attended the event on my own.  :(
At around 4.30pm, there was already a huge crowd and I found myself a space somewhere right at the back.

All the yoga masters from the various yoga centres.
Guest appearance of one of my favourite MediaCorp artistes - Belinda Lee.  Do catch her on Channel U's "Find me a Singaporean 3" at 9pm every Sunday.
I only stayed for the 1st session of the mass yoga workout.  It was pretty late, near 7pm after the 1st session and my poor hubby was waiting for me.
