11 Jan 2014: We wanted to see the official light-up of Chinatown on this day but in order to avoid traffic congestion in the evening, we decided to go over to Chinatown earlier in the late afternoon. We parked our car at Chinatown Point and had our lunch here.
There were quite a number of restaurants to choose from. many of them were newly opened I guess or I had not been to Chinatown Point for quite some time. Poulet, Genki Sushi, Peach Garden, Tsukada Nojo , Din Tai Fung, Hong Guo etc were some of the restaurants that we saw at the 2nd level. We decided on Tsukada Nojo, which is famous for their collagen hotpot (美人锅).
For lunch, the beauty hotpot was not available and thus, we both order the recommended Shio Ramen (Jidori collagen soup) at $16.80 per bowl.
This snack seemed interesting and at first we ordered two of different flavours. While ordering, I saw a notice at the side of the table that gave us instruction on how to get one Nikumaki Onigiri (standard) free. We need to use our smartphone to scan the QR code and showed to the staff the promotion page. Since we had a free one, we just need to order another one. We chose the Nikumaki Onigiri with Yuzu pepper & Mayo.
Instead of sliced Char Siew, the ramen here was served with thick slices of chicken.
The staff recommended us to enjoy the soup first before putting all the ingredients into the bowl as the ingredients would change the taste of the soup. Indeed, the soup on its own was really very tasty. However, by the time I finished the ramen and the ingredients, the soup became "oily". Thus, I didn't finish up all the soup.
This is the record to keep track of the number of customers who patronize their restaurant. Those who visits for the first time started off as assistant manager. You will be "promoted" when you visit the restaurant again.
Some Chinese New Year event sales at the atrium.
