Peach Garden 桃苑 @ White Sands

This relatively new Cantonese restaurant at White Sands had taken over the former premises of "Lerk Thai" - one of my favourite Thai restaurants.  :(  I came here with hubby for lunch today after he fetched me from work.  This was my second visit here.  My first visit here was with 6 other colleagues,  we actually ordered all the dim sums on the menu!
The portion of the meatballs porridge was big and we shared this between both of us.
$6.80

 Pan-fried minced meat buns
$3.30
Seafood beancurd roll in superior chicken stock
$3.80
Whooo.... our favourite custard buns.  Nice!  Hubby loved them so much that he took 2.
$3.60 for 3

Mad Jack @ White Sands Shopping Mall

Update:  [Closed] 2013
Friday lunch with colleagues 2 weeks ago before the school holiday.  Original plan was to go Manhatten Fish Market as colleague had some discount vouchers.  However, when we reached there, the queue was very long.  As my colleagues need to rush back school for meeting, we didn't queue for Manhatten but we changed our venue to Mad Jack instead.
I ordered the "Crazy Set" - Mad Cow Burger & Chips Set Lunch which is available from 11.30am to 5.30pm.  The set consists of Soup of the Day and a glass of Pepsi. ($9.90 without service charge)

A Reward Treat for my student

I had made a promise to my class last year, whoever got an A1 for my subject would be given a treat.  I treated my top student to Manhatten Fish Market for lunch.
Both of us topped up our meal with a soup and drink at $8.50 each.
We ordered the same type of drink - Tropical Breeze.
Student got a $5 discount voucher when she went to NYP open house.
I ordered Crab Bisque and student ordered cream of mushroom.

 Manhatten Flaming Seafood Platter ($35.90)
Love everything on the plate except the carrots as they were super hard.  Haha....

Pepper Lunch @ White Sands

I am really glad that Pepper Lunch opens another outlet at White Sands!  We got one more option for dining when we are at White Sands which we frequent regularly.
Hubby ordered Rib-Eye Steak ($16.90) and he topped up $2 for a drink and ice-cream.
Pouring the honey brown sauce onto the meat.
Done!
I ordered Curry Rice with Seafood.  ($14.90)
I poured all the curry into the rice and stirred everything, including the scallops and prawns together.
Ready to serve!

The Manhatten Fish Market @ White Sands

Our ARO, Janice gave the team a treat after the presidential election.  She made reservation at The Manhatten Fish Market.  There were 14 of us and we ordered 7 sets of "Platter for 2" to share.

Old Town White Coffee @ White Sands

Lunch with colleague SL at Old Town White Coffee at White Sands Shopping Mall. We wanted to try out Pepper Lunch but the queue was too long, probably some weekday lunch promotion.

I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Chop Rice. Haha.. compared to my family's authentic Hainanese Chicken Chop, this one pales in comparison. :P

Tasty Taiwan @ White Sands

This was the first time I had braised large intestine mee sua in Singapore.  It is rather common in Taiwan but here, we can find mostly oyster mee sua.  This bowl of mee sua was really tasty but their business is rather bad.  Probably because of the slightly steeper price tag as compared to those from the take-away kiosk.

Lerk Thai @ White Sands [Closed]

Update@ 1 May 2012: Lerk Thai had closed its White Sands' branch. Sad :(
Currently, the "Peach Garden Restaurant" has occupied its previous premise.

It was another hectic week for both hubby and me. We were both so occupied with work during the weekdays and even on Saturday. We decided to go White Sands for dinner, which was also our excuse to go out to take a breather.  I suggested to go "Lerk Thai" as it is one of the very few restaurants in White Sands that is good.

I love the interior decor of the restaurant, giving us a sense of calmness.

A small basket of keropok (Fish Crackers) was already placed on the table when we were brought to our seat.
Complimentary iced water is not being served here.  We ordered a jug of lemongrass drink and poured into 2 glasses.
 Green Curry with Beef
This is what I will normally order at a Thai restaurant.  We also ordered 2 plates of rice to go with the curry.  I finished up all my rice!
Tiger Prawns in Special Thai Sauce
The Thai sauce was quite special, not those sweet chilli Thai sauce, but this one had a cheesy taste.  Nice!
Soft Shell Crab (After 50% discount, $7)
 3-in-1 Desserts
Total bill for 2 was $55.

Pancakes (Western vs Japanese)

Hubby on duty today but I still woke up early so that I could have a proper breakfast to start the day :) I had my breakfast at "Superdog" in White Sands Shopping Centre. Decided to try something different and I ordered their Banana Walnut Pancake set.  Yup, "Superdog" offers pancakes too, not just sausages and bacon.  This was definitely a very right choice!  I was quite surprised that their pancakes are so good (thick and fluffy, with some crushed nuts).  The breakfast set consists of 2 pancakes with a choice of flavoured tea.  All for only $4 which I think is more value-for-money than MacDonalds.  This is definitely a good alternative to MacDonald pancakes breakfast set which really pales in comparison.
 Close-up
Tampines Central is now booming with more and more popular fastfood joints.  From Popeyes to Wendy's.  I wanted to try out "Wendy's" but as it is newly opened, the queue was very long and I changed my mind.  I went to Tampines 1 Manpuku for lunch.  Pancakes again, but in Japanese style.
Botejyu stall
Pork Okos at $7
Very nice pattern created with mayonaise.  The pork slices were so thin that you could hardly see or taste them.  The cabbages were crunchy though.
Do you like pancakes?  Which types of pancakes do you prefer and any other recommendation for good pancakes?

Superdog @ White Sands [Closed]

This fast food place has been around in White Sands for quite some time.  Finally, I decided to give it a try since they have special $5.50 set meal if you order between 6 to 9pm.  Normally it cost around $7 - $8 and I always feel that the price is a bit high for a sausage bun set meal.
There is no "Wow" factor for this sausage bun.  I will only buy if there is a promotion, otherwise, I don't think it is really worth the price.  I prefer my A&W Corney Dog anytime.
