Great Pizzas and Affordable Dining at MBS - Pizzeria Mozza

My colleague suggested going to Pizzeria Mozza for dinner after our trip to the ArtScience Museum. Initially, the rest of us were quite skeptical as we thought he was joking, to dine at a celebrity chef restaurant at Marina Bay Sands. However, it was for real. We then thought, since it was our pay day, why not gave it a try? :P

The restaurant was very crowded but luckily, there was no queue forming yet. The environment was quite dim but very vibrant. Compared to the high class sister restaurant next door, Osteria Mozza, this restaurant is more casual. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in there. Their table mats were very interesting, all having different designs, some with quizzes, for you to ponder before your meal is served. Many of the words in the menu were in Italian, and we couldn't quite understand. We asked the staff to translate and explain to us the names. They were very willing to help us and always served us with a smile. At first, we were attracted by an item in the menu, ie fried pig's ear and we actually ordered that. unfortunately, the item was not available.

Complimentary crackers were served to us in a brown paper bag before our dishes were served. Nice gesture!
Since this restaurant's specialty is their pizzas, we definitely had to order that! They have so many different pizzas and the price ranges from $24 to $37. We were seriously spoit for choices. There were 5 of us and the staff told us to get 3 pizzas first, should be enough. We ordered fried potatoes with rosemary and chickpeas, and also mussels for our sides. The potatoes tasted really good but the mussels were quite small. We loved the sauce that came with it though.
Funghi Misti, Fontina, Taleggio, Thyme ($30)
Generous fillings of a variety of mushrooms with herbs. Lovely!
Bacon, salami, fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato & mozzarella Pizza. Definitely a hot favourite for carnivores! A galore of meat! ($37)
Pizza alla benno: Speck, pineapple, jalapeño, mozzarella & tomato, really nice as well. ($35)
All the pizzas tasted so superb! I would definitely come again with other friends or family members to try out the other types of pizza here! Moreover, it was affordable. Each of us paid only $32 for the great meal.

Au Chocolat @ Marina Bay Sands

This was my first time here at Au Chocolat.  Heard my friends raving about this place and finally, I got the chance to try out this place with them.  :)

We were excited when we saw this promotion of the foie gras.
 The bistro...
We were seated at this section.  Most of the tables here were small.
The menu was quite extensive.
Hubby helped my friend to buy a Loewe bag from Spain and I finally passed her this beloved bag during this meet-up.
I had the mango magic, a concoction of white chocolates and mango puree.
Mango Magic and Banana Boost  ($12 per glass)
2 of my friends ordered the Taiwanese Lychee Beer and both of them were very happy with the beer as they said it was really refreshing and nice.
 Au Chocolat Hot Fudge ($10)
 Sweet Potatos Fries
 Mushroom Bites
Foie gras at $5 per plate.  Guess how many plates of foie gras did we order?
 5!!!
2 of my friends had the California Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($20) and I saw thick slices of avocado in it.
My friends who had been here before, all claimed that the Beef Bourguignon ($26) was one of the best entrees here but I decided to try something different.
This was my order - Handmade Pacific Crabcake!  ($32)
Look at the huge chunks of crab meat inside!  It was also served with some salads at the side to balance up the meal.  I was happy with my order.
We had wanted to order their waffles as there was a "50% off the 2nd waffles" promotion every Wednesday.  However, to our disappointment, the waffles were not served at Au Chocolat bistro!  We were told that the waffles were only served at Au Chocolat Confiserie which is located just next to the bistro.  Thus, we decided to only the Kalamansi Meringue Tart ($9) and a Brownie ($5) to share amongst us instead in order to enjoy the comfortable seats at the bistro.  The seats at the confiserie side are mostly high seats and we couldn't find a table big enough to accomodate 7 pax.
I love the tart but the crust was as hard as rock.  No joke!  Haha... Took me quite a lot of effort to break the crust!  But overall, the taste of the sweet egg whites (meringue) went well with the tangy and sourish kalamansi curd.
Cookies and Cream Brownie ($5)
Why my friend (on the extreme right) looked so sad?  Haha.... First, she was disappointed that the waffles could not be served at the bistro.  Secondly, the staff told us that the "OO" plush toy was out of stock and if she wanted another one for $10, she could take only the one on display.

However, after dinner, we walked over the Au Chocolat merchandise section, we saw lots of "OO" plush toys!  We were puzzled why the bistro and the other sections of Au Chocolat have to work independently even they are all under the same name.
This plush toy is sold at the merchandise section at $15 each.

We also enquired about the membership application but it seemed that they had stopped the scheme for the time being.  I would still love go to Au Chocolat to try the other savouries and dessert!

Tour around Marina Bay Sands

Yesterday night, my parents decided to go and explore Marina Bay Sands. I suggested to dad to park our car at Marina Square and we could take a slow walk over to Marina Bay Sands via the new Helix Bridge. :) As such, we also had our dinner here. We were not very hungry so we just settled at Jiaxiang Kuching Restaurant for a bowl of Kolo noodle each. Most importantly, there was no queue and we didn't have to wait for too long before our food arrived. The menu varieties are quite limited. For noodle, you either choose the normal Jiaxiang Kolo mee ($6) or their special Kolo mee ($8.90) which include abalone and fried wanton. I loved the texture of the noodle but hated it when I found a lump of noodles not loosened up properly in my bowl. I vaguely remember that I did have good memory of the kolo mee here and thus I recommended this to my parents. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the fried wantons dipped in mayo/ chilli sauce.
After dinner, we did a bit of shopping before heading to Marina Sands.
Walking through the Helix bridge is like walking through an aquarium, with many mirrors above you.
Don't forget to peep up to see the Marina Sands Hotel
We saw many of these with combination "g and c" and "t and a" on the floor of the Helix bridge and we couldn't figure out what are their functions.  Anyone can enlighten us?
One of the many "Joints" of the Helix bridge
The ending section of the Helix bridge leading to the shopping mall is still not ready yet but you can peep through the "window".  Haha... This photo is funny.  Only my mum is real, the rest of the "people" are all pictures.  From far, they all look very real.
More photos of the bridge.  All pictures taken using iPhone.  I was quite surprised that iPhone can still capture the following photo quite nicely.  I only brighten up the photo a bit.  Not too bad right?
Can still see all the construction work at the backdrop
A not very nice view of the hotel
Here we are... Welcome to Marina Bay Sands!!
Interior of the shopping mall
Most of the shops were not opened yet but you could take this opportunity to take photos with the beautiful advertisement boards... All branded stuff...
Casino... where most of the crowds gather...
There is a food court here at the expo but I think it is located here temporarily only
There might be a fountain here
The theatre
The Lotus-shaped Museum (Still heavily under construction)
The Casino
Managed to take a sneak shot of this using Iphone again
The Marina Bay Sands Hotel
"Wire-mesh" art piece hanging high up above the Rise Restaurant
Miniature of the whole Marina Integrated Resort
Very "Colourful" Business Centre
Ok... .This marked our end of our Marina Bay Sands trip.
