"Bao Today" again @ 313 Somerset

It was one of my special off-day from work and I decided to book an appointment for my facial at Orchard Central.  My original facial outlet was at Simei Eastpoint but the shopping mall closed down already and the new outlet will be at Tampines Mall.  For these two months, while the new outlet at Tampines is still under renovation, I am entitled to go to their Orchard branch for facial.

Before my facial, I had a light lunch at Bao Today.  It was barely a week since I had "Bao Today" but my previous visit was at their Marina Square branch.  As I was dining alone, I only ordered two dishes.  The sesame paste bun and the mango roll with red bean paste.

I felt that the sesame paste was a bit dry so I didn't really like it.  Next time, just stick to the Liu Sha Bao.

After lunch, I went shopping at Uniqlo at 313 too.  The service from the staff at Uniqlo 313 was the friendliest that I had ever encountered.
Facial at Chrysalis Spa

The room is so much bigger than that from Eastpoint and still have a bathtub with Jacuzzi in the room.

I decided to make another appointment here before the Tampines outlet is ready.

Social Painting at Arteastiq (Mandarin Gallery)

I was supposed to meet my friend, Lijuan at 4.45pm for an early dinner at 313 before we went for the painting session which will start at 6pm. We bought the deal from Groupon at $88 for 2 painting sessions.  However, I was late and reach 313 around 5.15pm. Thus, I told my friend to find a dinner venue first before I joined her. When I reached 313 somerset, it seemed that almost every restaurant had a long queue even it was still quite early. Lijuan messaged me that she found a seat at the Old Malaya Cafe which was at B3 of the building.  There was no queue here and in fact, there were still quite a number of empty seats.  Since we were rushing for time, we quickly settled here and ordered our food.

At Arteastiq.....
Painting materials were all provided for us, including unlimited use of acrylic paint.
We could flip through their reference books and photocopy (in colour) the one that we wanted to paint. I chose this colourful painting.....
So I started to outline the drawing.... on my own.  Although there was an instructor there, but I felt she was not very helpful.  She only talked to me twice.  First, she "taught" me how to put the paint on the palette and mix a bit of water to the paint.  Second time, she told me I was too slow, need to paint faster a bit.  Very helpful huh?

My friend's painting of an owl.
My product after the 3-hour session.  Frankly speaking, I felt that 3 hours were not quite enough for me to do a decent painting, especially this one with so many colours.
They will help you to pack your canvas painting in this cardboard carrier.
I still have a second session to go.  That will be a new canvas and new painting.  Hmmm... what should I draw next?

RamenPlay @ 313 Somerset

It is Friday again! I decided not to have my lunch in school as I had an appointment with the tour agent at Centrepoint around 2.30pm. Took the train to Somerset and arrived at 313 @ Somerset. Decided to try out RamenPlay's Set Lunch for $10++.  RamenPlay is located at the basement of 313.

                  Main Course:  Tonkotsu Ramen
The ramen was those thin but springy type.  The first mouthful tasted like the minced pork noodle that I like from Bedok North Food Centre.  Haha...  Not bad.
The set comes with chilli chives and a side dish.  I chose the braised egg as my side.  So in total, I had eated one and a half braised egg, including the one in my bowl of ramen.

Kamado Japanese Wood Fire Restaurant @ 313 Somerset

[CLOSED]
Last 2nd stop (for makan) of the day after an already very packed afternoon. Rushed down to Somerset to meet my friends - Lijuan, Ruijun & Joyce :) This restaurant is a fairly new restaurant recommended by RJ and there is no review of this restaurant online yet, I think :P  It is also operated under The Asian Kitchen Group.
The adjacent tables are arranged too close for comfort.  Also, the chairs that they use are higher than the cushion seats inside.  Thus, Joyce and I felt a bit weird at first as we were seated much higher than RJ and LJ. :D
RJ and I had this ala-carte Unagi Kamameshi each (~ $12)
LJ ordered the Chicken Kamameshi ala-carte and Joyce ordered the Beef Kamameshi ala-carte.  Actually the restaurant only has 4 different types of Kamameshi, namely Beef, Chicken, Pork and Unagi.
We all didn't order the set because the set deal, which consists of miso soup, pickles and a side dish didn't seem to be very impressive (also not too sure what side dishes are available, we couldn't find them in the menu).
Grilled Squid ($12)
Haha.... First time seeing Ginko Nuts on grill! ($2)
Oh yah... Did I mention that this was only our 2nd last stop for makan?  Because we adjourned to Ootoya for desserts after that!!  However, when we reached Ootoya, the restaurant was full at around 9pm and we got a queue number and were advised to come back 20 minutes later.
Our desserts... Soy ice-cream and the bitter green tea cake was good!
