Spring Kyushu Fair @ Tampines Mall (3 - 14 April 2015)

This year, I am glad that I didn't miss the Kyushu fair at Tampines Mall.  After making a visit to an elderly home at Tampines area, I took a bus to Tampines Interchange.  Before taking the MRT back home, I decided to drop by Tampines Mall to check out the food at Kyushu fair.

Fortunately, at 5pm, it was not too crowded yet and in less than 10 minutes, I bought 3 packets of food.
I love croquettes and since there was a promotion "Buy 5 and get 1 free", I grabbed 5 different types of croquettes - Pumpkin, Veggie, Potato, Sweet Corn and Crab Cream and also an Ebi Tempura.  All for $10.  I remember a few years ago, one such croquette cost at least $2.50 and those with additional ingredients like sweet corn, crab cream ones cost $3.50 during similar Japanese fair.
These were to be shared with my hubby so I painstakingly cut each croquette neatly into half.  :)
Decided to try out the unagi rice too.
Delicious!  Probably will make another trip to the fair before it ends on Tuesday.

Summer Hokkaido Fair @ Tampines Mall (29 Jun - 8 Jul 2012)

The annual Hokkaido Fair at Tampines Mall is here again!
I decided to go today morning since I don't have to work!  Hubby and I actually wanted to come last Saturday but the queue for carpark was terrible.  We went elsewhere for lunch instead.

My first stop:  Ikameshi (Braised Squid Stuffed with Sweet Rice).  I decided to buy one box which  supposedly contains 2 pieces of stuffed squid.  ($7.90)
When I reached home and opened the box, I realized that they gave me 3 pieces instead. :)
I like this one!  It was not too tough and easy to bite.  You can just eat it with the toothpick.
Next:  Takoyaki (Octopus Ball)/ Hotateyaki (Scallop Ball)

I ordered 8 pieces of Hotateyaki (Scallop Ball).
I will not recommend this one as there was only 1 small bit of scallop inside and it was quite tasteless.  Most of the time, you will find yourself just eating the thick batter.
I bought 3 pieces of croquettes back - Pumpkin, Carrot and Corn!  They also have black Edamame Bean croquette but I didn't buy that.  If you had tried this, do let me know whether it is nice!
1 piece for $3.50 and 3 for $10.
I went up to the 2nd level where we can find more cakes and also the very famous Hokkaido Shiroi Koibito cookies.  I was captivated by the nice cake sold at "Bake De Arles".
 Guess what did I buy?
I bought this cream rare cheese cake for my hubby as he likes cheese and strawberries! Very pretty cake right?  :)
I bought also snow roll cake, sesame flavour for myself.
Next to this confectionery, there are tables and chairs too.  You can choose to enjoy your cake at this special cafe at the 2nd level.

Spring Kyushu Fair @ Tampines Mall (30 Mar - 8 Apr 2012)

When I received them mailer on Kyushu Fair, I got pretty excited seeing all those yummilicious photos.  I also informed my Multiply friends about this food fair and I met two of them at the fair.  Haha...
We reached Tampines Mall at around 5.30pm and the whole place was already very crowded.  We decided to fill up our stomach with proper meal first so hubby went to queue for ramen.  The queue was not very long but got to wait quite a while.  I "chopped" a standing place with a small hgh table as all the seats were occupied.  Hiaz.. paid $30 for 2 bowls of ramen and got to eat in such an unconducive place.  Luckily,we met a nice lady who was about to finish her food and she waved to us to tell us to go over to have her seat.  :)  :)

Before attacking the ramen, I saw that there was no queue at the croquette stall so I bought 2 croquettes back for supper.  They have quite a variety like butter, onion, curry and corn croquettes.
Hubby's Special Red Ramen which was spicy and he finished up everything in the bowl including the soup. ($15)
Some minced meat and also bean sprouts in the bowl of ramen.
He ordered the Special Black Ramen for me.  ($15)
I still prefer the ramen from Ramen Champion at T3, especially from Ikkousha.  I didn't finish up the soup for my black ramen as towards the end, it was already cold and oily.  (I am a slow eater... Heehee...).  The eggs were also not done properly.

I will still come back to the fair tomorrow for the cakes.

Supper tonight:
Heating up the 2 croquettes that I bought at the fair in our new oven.
Potato Croquette ($2.50) and Corn Croquette ($3.50).  I like the corn one as inside had a creamy texture.

Hokkaido Fair at Tampines Mall ( 1 - 10 Jul 2011)

Sorry if you are drooling over the food that I had posted here as the Hokkaido Fair at Tampines Mall had just ended today!! When we reached the place at around 7pm, the ramen at the ramen stall and many other food stuff were already sold out.

Crabbies

We bought this for dinner... Didn't really like the taste of sea urchin (uni) though, I found it bitter.  I am not too sure how fresh uni should taste so I cannot comment much whether it is good.  The crab was sweet and the salty roe went well with the rice.
$22 after a discount of $7
We also bought 2 boxes of cakes and 1 box of cheese tarts.
Buy 2 get 1 free ($9.90 each)
Rare chocolate cake from Shinori

Shinori Camembert Cheese Cake
Cheese Tart

Aoba Hokkaido Ramen and Cafe Cartel "Happy Hours"

We had dinner at Manpuku at Tampines One before catching movie "Thor" later at night.  I ordered Shoyu Ramen from Aoba.  ($6.80)

This time round, we had too much time to spare.  Almost after all the shops were closed, we went to Cafe Cartel for desserts.  After 9pm, their coffee, desserts, snacks are all half price!  We ordered the brownies with ice-cream and it cost only about $4.50 after discount.
We catched the 11.25pm show at Shaw, Century Square.
Synopsis:  Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, "Thor," which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It's while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰@ Tampines Mall

Chicken Soup ($8.80)
Crabmeat Dumplings $13.80
Prawn Dumplings ($9.30)
The top part of the dumplings that is folded to hold the shrimp was very hard and I don't quite like this.
Fried Rice with Shrimps and Eggs 虾仁蛋饭($10)
This is my favourite dish at Din Tai Fung.
