Yummy Sarawak Kolo Mee @ Tampines Round Market

I used to stay in Tampines for more than a decade of my life but I didn't like to go market when I was young.  My mum would always "tabao" food from the Tampines Round Market for me in the past.  I remember she would normally buy chicken noodles or pork ribs noodles for me.  After I shifted out of Tampines, only then I realized that there are many "gems" in this market.  One of which is this "Yummy Sarawak Kolo Mee".  It is easy to spot this stall with bright yellow signboard and a long waiting queue.  Last Saturday, I followed my hubby to service his car at Tampines Industrial area.  We walked over to the round market for breakfast whilst the car was at the car servicing workshop.  Since we had time to spare, I decided to join the long queue for the very first time for the famous Sarawak Kolo Mee.
This stall was featured in many Channel U, Channel 8 food variety shows and also certified by Makansutra for its quality Wanton Mee.
I saw a huge pot of braised chicken feet (very plump!) at the stall front and was almost tempted to order chicken feet noodles.  However, I decided to order two bowls of their Signature Kolo Mee instead and will save the chicken feet noodles for the next time.
Tatah!!!  Signature Kolo Mee ($4) with pork ribs, char siew, wantons (two boiled and one fried) and a plump dumpling with crunchy chestnuts bits inside.  The kolo mee Chilli is optional but be warned, it is very spicy.  The curly Kolo Mee was served dry with some special sauce which somehow reminded me of instant noodles (like those Indo Mee Dry).  Overall, it was a satifying bowl of Kolo Mee.  :)

Chabuton @ Tampines One

Hubby wanted to go to the SingTel shop to get a new phone and thus, we ended up at Tampines.  We had an early dinner at Chabuton, Tampines One after we took a queue number from the SingTel shop.

Hubby ordered "The Kurobuta" which is available from now till 31 March 2015.
As I was not feeling really hungry yet, I ordered a small bowl of Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.30).

The restaurant was quite empty when we were there at around 5pm on a weekend.

I took a small slice of the meat.  It was tender and sweet, very tasty.

My small bowl of ramen came with only a slice of meat.  Haha... The broth was rich and creamy. However, the noodles were rather hard even when I had customized it to soft.  I also requested for less oily and less salty.
Since mine was just the small bowl, I finished everything up!  :)

Summer Hokkaido Fair @ Tampines Mall (29 Jun - 8 Jul 2012)

The annual Hokkaido Fair at Tampines Mall is here again!
I decided to go today morning since I don't have to work!  Hubby and I actually wanted to come last Saturday but the queue for carpark was terrible.  We went elsewhere for lunch instead.

My first stop:  Ikameshi (Braised Squid Stuffed with Sweet Rice).  I decided to buy one box which  supposedly contains 2 pieces of stuffed squid.  ($7.90)
When I reached home and opened the box, I realized that they gave me 3 pieces instead. :)
I like this one!  It was not too tough and easy to bite.  You can just eat it with the toothpick.
Next:  Takoyaki (Octopus Ball)/ Hotateyaki (Scallop Ball)

I ordered 8 pieces of Hotateyaki (Scallop Ball).
I will not recommend this one as there was only 1 small bit of scallop inside and it was quite tasteless.  Most of the time, you will find yourself just eating the thick batter.
I bought 3 pieces of croquettes back - Pumpkin, Carrot and Corn!  They also have black Edamame Bean croquette but I didn't buy that.  If you had tried this, do let me know whether it is nice!
1 piece for $3.50 and 3 for $10.
I went up to the 2nd level where we can find more cakes and also the very famous Hokkaido Shiroi Koibito cookies.  I was captivated by the nice cake sold at "Bake De Arles".
 Guess what did I buy?
I bought this cream rare cheese cake for my hubby as he likes cheese and strawberries! Very pretty cake right?  :)
I bought also snow roll cake, sesame flavour for myself.
Next to this confectionery, there are tables and chairs too.  You can choose to enjoy your cake at this special cafe at the 2nd level.

New Ikea Meatballs

We tried the new Ikea meatballs last weekend and I think it was quite a disappointment.  Not only they are now "out-of-shape", they also lack the firmer texture that they used to have.  Each meatball now is like half the original size and thus, hubby bought a plate of 20 meatballs as he felt the normal 10-meatball plate seems too little for him now.
I had the kids' meal because I also wanted to have a piece of cheesecake.
We had a chicken wing each too.
Our feast at Ikea :)
Sidenote:  I do wish they bring back the meatballs using the old recipe :(

O'Coffee Club @ Tampines One using Groupon Voucher

I bought 2 vouchers from Groupon: $10 for $20 Worth of Gourmet Food and Drinks in 15 Locations Islandwide last year and only to realize that they were going to expire the following day when I checked for their validity dates.

There was a queue when we reached, most of the customers, like us, were holding th Groupon vouchers.  We waited patiently and we got a seat after around 20 mins later.  We were greeted by a friendly female staff and she apologized to us for having to queue so long.  She also pointed to us the dishes which were already not available.  A bit disappointed because all those were the more popular ones that we had wanted to order.

My of order "Skippers' Delight Penne" - Pan-fried fillets topped with aromatic lemon, garlic and rosemary crust on a bed of penne, drenched in a robust lobster sauce.  Hubby also ordered a fish main course.  He didn't have much choice actually.  His order was basil Pesto Sauce with Clam Chowder Linguine.
 Mud-Pie
Spotted a happening hippo at Tampines One Shopping Mall.  Heehee...

Fish & Co @ Tampines One

Happy that I manage to establish an exercise routine with my friend A every weekend.  We would go Amore for classes either on Saturday or Sunday :)

Last weekend, after our 2-hour classes, we had our lunch at Fish & Co at Tampines One.  Hubby joined us for lunch too.
This is page 2 of the different types of fish and chips on the menu, so many varieties.  Didn't know that they also serve Japanese Fish & Chips eg.  Dip the fried fish in soba sauce?  Singapore Fish & Chips goes with chili crab paste... Errr.. don't think I would want to try this.
Soup of the Day - Fish Chowder
I ordered Danish Fish & Chips.  I like it because it was cripsy and cheesy!  A and hubby both ordered their signature New York Fish & Chips.

Hearty lunch at Thai Express after workout at Amore (Tampines One)

Met up with an ex-colleague to go workout at Amore.  We attended pilates and followed by bellyblitz together with another 2 friends.  Our instructor for bellyblitz was actually a male!  We were quite shocked as he also wore the hipscarf used for bellydancing.  He was actually quite good as he was very patient and would slow down the steps so that we could all catch up with his dance routines.  It was great to catch-up with my friend and we got so much things to talk about.  We had a long lunch (almost 3 over hours) at Thai Express.

Complimentary starter
 Beef salad for sharing ($8.90)
I ordered the shrimp fried rice.  ($9.90)
My favourite mango sticky (glutinous) rice!  Served warm.  ($6.50)

Didn't take photos of what my colleagues ate.  All of us were famished after the 2 hours session of workout.

Any blog readers here also signed up with Amore package?  Which are the classes that you all like to attend?

A Sunday Breakfast at O'Coffee Club, Tampines One

Our friend asked us out for breakfast at O'Coffee Club on Sunday morning.
English Breakfast Tea for me...

I ordered Picnic Pancakes Set. ($10.20)
Hubby ordered the American Breakfast Set. ($10.50)  The sunny side-up was not quite nicely done though.
Our friend came only after we had almost finished our breakfast.  After that, he brought us to his new place which is currently under renovation at Pasir Ris.
