We were famished by the time we checked-in to our hotel and thus, we took a cab from our hotel - Hotel Sofitel to Taipa Village. Our cab fare cost around MOP 80. For the rest of the trip, after we were more familiar with the place, we found out that we could make use of the various free shuttles from the bigger hotels to hop from one place to another. Thus, for the rest of the trips in Macau, we didn't spend any more money on transport. :)
From some of the blogs that I had read prior to the trip, some mentioned that the shop will only be open at 3pm and by 2.30pm, the queue will start forming. Thus, I anticipated that there would be a long queue outside the shop as we reached around 2.40pm. However, to our (pleasant) surprise, there was no queue at all and we could just step into the shop to buy our pork chop bun!
There is no more outdoor seating with proper tables and chairs now and thus, we need to have it take-away and enjoyed eating the buns under the shades of the big trees outside. The weather was very hot when we were there and I was perspiring like mad even though I was seated under the shade.
This is the original shop of Tai Lei Loi Kei. Now, probably because they had opened up 2 more branches at Venetian and near Ruins of St Paul in recent years, both which are more accessible, explains that there are lesser crowd at the original shop now. However, I read that the standard of the other 2 branches are not as good so maybe you would want to try out the the pork chop bun at this original location.
