Chinese New Year Lo Hei @ Park Palace, Grand Park City Hall

Lunar New Year is about one month away and I was happy to receive an invitation from Grand Park City Hall for a Lunar New Year Lo Hei Lunch!

Golden Shunde Yu Sheng
Shunde is a river town in Guangdong, China and the place is well-known for its freshwater fish and fresh produce.  Fresh yellowtail is used for this Yu Sheng.

Also, you will realize that the presentation wise of this Yu Sheng is quite different from the norm, with the core filled with crispy fried vermicelli instead.  At the sides, you can find thin slices of ginger, spring onion, crunchy capsicums and finely grounded peanut.  That is not all, gold dust and gold flakes are sprinkled over to give it a nice finishing touch.  The Yu Sheng is tossed in peanut oil instead of sweet plum sauce, for more fragrance and without the sweetness overwhelming the dish.

Available for lunch and dinner at $88++ each.

Park Palace Imperial Whole Suckling Pig 樂宮乳猪皇 (1st course)

Advance order is required for the suckling pig as it needs to be air-dried for 1 day before roasting so the skin will be crispy.

Golden Happiness Crispy Grouper

Prosperity Flambé Pen Cai  合家团圆大盆菜
In this pot of Pen Cai, you can find 18 luxuriant ingredients;
 Sliced Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Whole Conpoy (Dried Scallop), Prawn Balls, Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork Belly, Duck Web, Soya Chicken, Fatt Choy, Black Mushroom, Lotus Root, Broccoli, Radish, Beancurd Skin, Gingko Nut and Black Fungus with quality stock.

For dine-in, before the Pen Cai is being served, the chef will flambe it with cognac to enhance the taste of the seafood.

Prosperity Flambé Pen Cai (à la carte and takeaway)
21 January to 24 February:
 $268++ (for six persons)
 $428++ (for ten persons)
If you have it take-away, the pot of course will come in together with the Pen Cai but no cognac will be added.

Our Suckling Pig was back again after oven-baked it with lemon-grass.  (2nd course)
Auspicious Glutinous Rice with Foie Gras
Very nice presentation... and the foie gras melted in my mouth.
Lastly, we had steamed mini dumplings with green bean paste.  Every dumpling is hand-made by the chef himself.
I had really enjoyed this Lunar New Year Lunch and I would really like to thank Jean (Assistant Marketing Communications Manager) and Karen (Marketing Communications Manager) of Grand Park City Hall for the invitation.
